In 2017 the government decided to abolish some of the counties and to merge them with other counties to form larger ones, reducing the number of counties from 19 to 11, to be implemented from 2020.

There are now 8,743 positive cases in Norway at the time of writing, with 244 people now confirmed dead. There are 16 people hospitalised around the country, just 6 of which are in intensive care. As of 18 June, 302,659 people have been tested out of Norway´s population of around 5.3 million.
